What is the definition of an A&E department ? It isn't a full blown A&E as this unit will still not treat major trauma or seriously ill patients. Have they finally realised that Oldham & Manchester simply can't cope with the extra volume of patients since the downgrading of Rochdale's A&E department.

The most sensible thing would be for them to bring back a safer service at Rochdale Infirmary and to invest in a transport service that doesn't rely on a volunteer drivers scheme.
