I live close by and metal theft is rife in this neck of the woods. Criminals have even tried to remove the enormous cast metal railings that line the river Irwell nearby, unfortunately much of this area was a 'redevelopment zone' that was still-born in the 1990's and is now a huge area of overgrown wasteland that nobody takes ownership of.
