Re Maurice, The areas with the lowest turnouts are some of the poorest in the region. The city centre being the exception but has large numbers of transients, students, businessmen etc. The trend is bucked in areas with large immigrant communities who possibly turn out in larger numbers to vote for their particular candidate because of a shared culture rather than any political allegiences?
