The view in town seems to be that Labour will get in anyway (which is a daft excuse as of course they will if nobody votes but Labour voters) or they have just given up the ghost on politics in general as they say one thing and do the other and just carry on regardless.
In town there has been the parking charge increase, roads blocked off, £170 million on the Town Hall extension whilst pleading poverty and I think people just give up.
I voted because I respect the right to vote and have visited countries with dubious regimes where they can't vote.
We invade countries and trumpet the fact that the people can now vote yet don't bother here!
Manchester now has a politically inactive population which is incredible when you look at the past struggles.
Maybe one reason why two thirds din't vote is because maybe they are pretty happy with their lot and don't see a reason to change. Maybe it isn't all doom and gloom after all.
