No. United went away to Cardiff without leaving Stuart Mathieson a story, so he had to invent some to fill the reams of blank pages of MEN in Derby week. In this one he's combined all of the last six months transfer gossip into one, adding in the normal bitter criticism of squad players, added the regulation amount of MEN Doom and Gloom when it comes to United, put in some fantasy football nonsense and come up with this pile!

United have one position that they MUST address and that's Left Back. They also have to move some fringe players on to make room for players already at the club who will now occupy one of the over-21 squad spaces.

Pique, Ronaldo, Tevez coming back are fantasies. Spending record transfer fees isn't necessary, as we'll be signing potential not Messi style superstars. Mass changes of the first team squad aren't SAF's style, go against his philosophy, aren't required and are generally counter-productive. Also not SAF's style is paying £50m for players who've achieved nothing. He's quite happy to let over-hyped players gp elsewhere if the bidding exceeds his valuation, as we've seen with Benzema, di Maria, Sanchez, etc.

If we can fix the Left Back position and maybe add a couple of young players with potential, while making space in the squad of 25 for players like Welbeck, Cleverley and the da Silvas, then it will be job done, I think.
