The M50 post code is one of the newest and was created specifically for Salford Quays about 10 years ago. Previously Salford Quays had an M5 post code, which still exists and encompasses a larger, more residential area. Comparisons with the M5 post code may not be so favourable.

Regardless, personally I find Salford Quays itself feels very safe.
