Quick question to Publican - when the regeneration takes place, what do you think will happen to the 2 existing and partially occupied shopping centres? All the viable shops will migrate to the new centre and the existing 2 will fail, probably taking Yorkshire Street with them. But as a town we will get to pay heavily for this privilege for decades to come. I’m not against regeneration I just fail to see why the money could not be spent on the existing infrastructure, rather than adding more retail units when we obviously have an issue regarding vacant shops!
