The Church is an outdated institution with no relevance in modern society, despite many people peculiarly still involving themselves in it. A bit like smoking and racism. It acts as a smokescreen for the power-obsessed or the weak. Unfortunately, paedophiles seem to adore the church because so many vulnerable, brainwashed individuals like to take their children to be indoctrinated within the institution, where the poor mites can be groomed and abused in the name of Jesus. The Catholic church have paid around $400million in out of court settlements to child abuse victims in the US - the tip of a very large iceberg. It strikes me that any right-thinking intelligent person would recognise that the bible is a book of fairy tales written by unknown peasants who lived in the desert thousands of years ago. The story of the tooth fairy is only slightly more believable than Mary's immaculate contraption. How this rhetoric has anything to do with two people loving one another is questionable - love is love, irrespective of sexuality. Maybe if we all concentrated on respecting ourselves and others rather than continually victimising and ostracising minority groups with a view to proving ourselves to be righteous (a bit like what Hitler did), the world would be a happier place.
