Perhaps, the Manchester Evening News could look at featuring several other similar long term unemployed people who are committed to finding work and releasing themselves from the benefit system (wether fully or partially).
They could do this for several people on say a weekly basis and give potential employers an opportunity to choose candidates for interview by looking in the MEN or going on its website .
This then would be evidence of a local paper really working with the local community to support its readership.
The Government could possibly support this financially I think at a far smaller cost than some existing methods of getting people off benefits and into gainful employment
