Not strictly true. Rush hour and daytime schedules are generally slacker than they were 20 years ago, but the massive increase in traffic has made them seem tight. This increase is mostly off-peak and away from the city centre, caused largely by the change in school's finishing times and the growth of Superstores with free parking. This is also partly why bus fares go up much more rapidly than petrol. Buses are getting slower, using up more fuel and needing extra drivers to run the same schedule. The only schedules which are tighter are evening schedules because far too many drivers ran early in the past.
