Part of the problem here though, is that our "too politically influential" national media just aren't interested in such infrastructure schemes, unless they affect the place where they all live - LONDON! The BBC national news & Newsnight yesterday gave an inordinate amount of coverage to Boris's new airport for London - as they also did (do) for the campaign for Crossrail, the high speed channel tunnel link etc and all of London's big infrastructure needs. (Even their HS2 coverage was generally negative and "concentrated" on how it will "supposedly" badly affect southern constituencies.) Come on BBC, ITV & Sky News etc - government listens to you, so give some much needed coverage to our infrastructure needs too, not just yours down there in London.
