Here's a thought:

Weekends (when most people are off work) tend to be the busiest days for shopping & in turn this is when the economy of Manchester thrives.

On the 30th, with many more people off work, shop workers not going on strike and presumably traffic wardens will be off so it'll be free parking in Manchester all day.

Christmas Markets will be open, kids off school will want something to do, the public purse isn't paying any wages for a day AND those on strike on the bins will get double time for emptying them on Saturday.

£3million cost to the economy? What a load of cobblers.
