Of course teachers, police etc are required. Why does it cost more to find a teacher in the UK compared to every other EU country except Austria (& even then Austria teachers with little experience are cheaper)? Similarly, the police, firemen and no doubt others.

The non-essential roles I consider locally (recently advertised) are Nuclear Free Local Secretariat & Policy and Research Officer - 40k , New Media Manager - £37k, Link Worker - Indian and East African Asian; Cultural Regeneration Officer - £30k; another Cultural Regeneration Officer - £30k, Assistant Specialist Market Manager on £ 27kt, Corporate Lead Officer, Lesbians' issues on £38k, Corporate Lead Officer, Gay Men's Issues, another £38k, Climate Change Officer £37,206, Team Strategic Development on salary of £41,616, a Creative Director on £120,000, An Expressive and Performing Arts Technician @ £21,519, a Travel Change Team Policy Officer on £34,549, we've got over 70 recycling officers in greater manchester salaries unknown.

These roles do not add to the economy. When resources are scarce, they need to be concentrated in areas that will be positive to the economy.

I can smell coffee thank you.
