""Nearly 10,000 officers in GMP"" errr try around 7000 and falling..
Now you might say 1 crime per officer per week...But remember around 4 000 incidents a day for GMP - a lot of what the Police deal with is not a recorded crime, missing people, vehicle collisions, many domestic incidents, deaths, arresting people for disqualified/drink driving breach of bail and a whole host of other offences which are not recorded crime.
There is some room for cutbacks in all public sector services - mainly in "performance monitoring" "beancounting" and middle management - however the axe as always will start at the front line.
