I have been a doubter of Khan for quite a while (I'm now reformed); Roche has undoubtedly done wonders with the boy and he looked a world beater up until the ninth round on Saturday night Sunday morning.
He had Maidana down in the first with two brutal body shots; having found a weakness Khan insisted in concentrating on head shots which made no sense what so ever. In the tenth Maidana looked a spent force & Khan had found his feet again after the pounding he took in the previous round - I was screaming at the tv for Khan to go to the body as Maidana could have been dropped by body blows as in the first. I think Khan avoided the body shots as he left that he would be more open to the counter hook.
Late in the 7th & throughout the 8th Khan had good joy with the right uppercut - an uppercut will always leave you more exposed to a counter so if you were taking a risk why not do it going to the body where you know you have already had success.
I took certain things from the fight - Khan has matured a lot & his footwork it exceptional but he will have to become a lot more ring smart before he even things of the likes of Mayweather.
Although better boxers the winner of Alexander and Bradley will not pose as much of a threat to Khan as Maidana did.
Unifying the 10 stone division should be Khan's only focus for now - he's only 24 after all.
