Type your comment here...GMP recently spent a considerable amount of money on plastic pin badges (in excess of £45,000) showing the officers name and rank only to find that they were being torn off and used to stab/slash officers by violent offenders during arrests. The reason for the badges: "To allow the officer to make a more personal interaction with the customer/client and to be more readily identifiable." Collar numbers seemed to work fine for the previous 200 years! Official guidelines now state that uniformed officers can and should remove the badges if they are attending incidents where confrontation is likely........... Commanded by woolly headed yogurt knitting liberals!
