Report Comment

I was present at this protest and was indeed next to the entrance of the BBC. This report is actually quite inaccurate in a number of respects. No attempt was made to harm employees of the BBC, merely to occupy the building. The protester who hung the Palestinian flag was not detained to my knowledge, although attempts were made to arrest him. The chants were 'BBC Shame On You', and save for the behaviour of a mere handful of protesters who behaved aggressively and who did not seem to realise why we were there, this was an entirely peaceful demonstration. The majority of police and protestors behaved in a respectful and civil manner towards eachother and the crowd dispersed after calls from other protestors that the point had been made, and was nothing to do with police dogs even though they were present.

It may be true that certain BBC news broadcasts have condemned the actions of the Israeli government, but the BBC's overall coverage of the intermittent conflicts between Israel and Palestine since 2007 have been hugely biased. The BBC website had, if anything, a lenient stance on the actions of Netanyahu's IDF on the day of the terrible massacre on the flotilla yesterday morning.
