It's a difficult issue and provokes strong debate from either side. Having academically and professionally studied the issue, I came to the conclusion that personal choice is paramount, and that ending a life with dignity is more important than prolonging a life.
Having also had to witness a close family member die slowly from Motor Neurone Disease, I would never want to see anyone suffer like that, if they had decided to end it all early. It is time that the legal authorities stopped dancing around the issue, and trying to please the various lobby groups, and made a concrete decision to allow people to make the choice to end a life, and to be given the legal means by which to gain the correct assistance.
