Gary Breen's handball - a lot of people follow what the media spoonfeeds them - the media said Veron was rubbish so the sheep just go along with it.

Veron's problem was his price tag and the fact he came at a time when Beckham did all the things that he did at Lazio (passing, freekicks, corners) while Keane set the tempo (which he did at Lazio). In the league he wanted too much time on the ball but in Europe, he was one of our better players displaying some outrageous passing which I would urge people to watch if they get chance to see old matches again.

Of Fergie's poorest buys, he wouldn't get in my top 5 and at the time most fans I met were delighted that we were able to suddenly buy a guy of his pedigree. Funny, how hindsight makes everyone so wise and forgetful in memory.

Berby will get there in the end. He is getting used to our system and we are getting used to him. Cantona wasn't an instant hit despite what people will have you think and even an experience player like Sheringham took time to settle. Rather than celebrate having a player with real class though, it seems agenda gets in the way for some people. Maybe I just appreciate players like Berbatov after watching us muddle through with the likes of honest but limited players like Davenport, Brazil and Stapelton in the 1980s.
