I lived in Moss Side for almost two years, about 14 months ago, and I loved it.
At first I was scared, the reputation of Moss Side is one to be feared, and only fools would be concerned.
The people of Moss Side, and Manchester as a whole, are far more concerned for the welfare of their friends and aquaintances, than here in London.
Would I live in Moss Side again? No, because I am boirn and bred a southerner, and the lifestyle differences (although better) are far too removed to what I was bought up to do.
Have I learned from Moss Side? Without question. Moss Side teaches you that there is more to life than going with the grain, there is more to life than having to do what is expected of you. I will never forget Moss Side and all that it has taught me, maybe it would be beneficial for all us southerners to live in Moss Side for an extended period, we could all learn a lot.
I love London because it's my home, but Manchester, and Moss Side especially, is where I will have learned the most, so will cherish it more.
