HI - my name is Helen Baxter and I now live in Chicago, Illinois. USA. I was originally born in Halifax, West Yorkshire but moved to Bacup in 1974 - my father was a Bacup Fireman for many years - Kevin Baxter. I attended Britannia Primary, Whitworth High & Bacup & Rawtenstall Grammar Schools. After working at ASDA Rawtenstall for a short while I left the valley in 1984 to live in Leeds & London. But the pull of the valley brought me back in 1997. I worked for P&P until the General Electric takeover in 2000 which then moved me over to the USA. I still have many friends and family in the valley and travel back as often as possible - I miss the friendly faces, the hills and the history - not to mention the pubs, Bacup Chippie, Marios, The Herbal Shop in Rawtenstall and Rossendale Groundwork walks on a Sunday!
