A vintage performance from FC United saw them cruise to a 6-1 victory at Nantwich on Saturday.
Kyle Wilson scored a superb hat-trick as the Rebels produced their best display of the season to record their second Unibond Premier League win in a row.
FC opened the scoring after just five minutes when Wilson latched on to Adam Tong’s through ball and netted his first goal since returning to the club last month.
The home side drew level through striker Michael Lennon 10 minutes in but FC continued to dominate proceedings and deservedly re-took the lead in the 23rd minute when Wilson grabbed his second of the afternoon with a classy finish.
Simon Carden then increased FC’s lead on 37 minutes to make it 3-1 at the break and Ben Deegan added a fourth just after half time.
Ludovic Quistin was dismissed for a second bookable offence mid way through the second period but FC’s ten men were still too good for their hosts and Jerome Wright rounded off an excellent team move to make it 5-1 in the 72nd minute.
Wilson then completed his treble with an unerring left-footed finish 10 minutes from time to give the Rebels their biggest win of the campaign.

Kyle Wilson hit a hat-trick as FC United thrashed Nantwich Town 6-1 at the Weaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon in front of 1,171 supporters.
Ben Deegan, Simon Carden and Jerome Wright got the other goals as the rampant Reds demolished the Dabbers in the thick Cheshire fog.
United controlled the game from the off and went one ahead after just five minutes through on-loan striker Wilson. Lennon grabbed an equaliser five minutes later but then the Reds stepped up a gear with Wilson and Carden both getting on the scoresheet to make it 3-1 at half-time.
Deegan added a fourth two minutes after the restart to put the game beyond doubt but then it was another 25 minutes before Wilson set up Wright for the fifth. The Macclesfield forward completed his hat-trick and the rout 11 minutes before the end.
In recognition of the 52nd anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster, former Busby Babe Ronnie Cope was the special guest at the Weaver Stadium. Cope made his first team debut for United in 1956 and began playing regularly at centre-back for the first team following the tragedy in Munich.
Cope also played alongside Duncan Edwards in the 23-0 demolition of Nantwich Town in the FA Youth Cup’s inaugural season in 1952/53. In the twilight of his career, Cope played for Nantwich Town. All players wore black armbands in commemoration of those who lost their lives as a result of tragedy.
The opening minutes of the game saw FC looking to threaten the Nantwich defence at every opportunity and United could have scored less than five minutes in when Deegan rose in the six-yard box to head a Phil Marsh cross onto the bar.
Early pressure paid off for the Reds as Wilson scored for the first time since his return to the club. A well placed ball from Adam Tong was played forward to Wilson who beat his man and fired his initial shot under the onrushing keeper. Wilson then rounded Jones and had little to do but slide the ball over the line.
Despite continued pressure from United, it was the Dabbers who were next on the score sheet as the long serving Lennon produced an equaliser ten minutes in. A Nantwich free kick was picked up by Lennon who turned and shot across Sam Ashton into the far bottom corner.
Halfway through the first period, Wilson put the Reds ahead once more. Wright’s cross from the left into Deegan fell to Wilson on the edge of the area who had time to set up his powerful drive past the keeper and into the back of the net.
Looking to increase the lead, United continued to push forward, with good spells of one touch passing and attacking play to pressure the home side’s defence. Deegan also almost profited from a weak Nantwich back pass, as the centre forward went one-on-one with Jones, who pulled off a fine one-handed save to deny FC.
Persistence and hard work in the midfield saw Jake Cotterell able to close down the Nantwich defence and push the ball through to Wilson whose storming shot on target from 25 yards out was denied only by an excellent tip-over from Jones.
FC United wrapped up an impressive first half performance with a third goal, this time coming from Simon Carden. Wright’s corner from the left fell to Wilson on the edge of the 18 yard box, who hit his shot on goal low and hard through the crowded area. Jones did well to get down to his left to parry the initial shot; however Carden was on hand at the post to blast the ball into the roof of the net.
As the second half of the game got underway, the heavy fog continued to shroud the Weaver Stadium. However, the weather conditions weren’t enough to stop the on-target Reds who increased the goal margin once again.
Deegan topped off an industrious performance with a goal two minutes into the half. The striker beat the keeper to a poor back pass from Ross Davidson and as Jones went down, Deegan was first to react and picked up the loose ball to fire into the net, past two defenders on the line.
United also held firm at the back, with Tong clearing a corner off the line, and minutes later Ludovic Quistin ending Lennon’s attacking run into the box with a strong defensive tackle.
Marsh’s cross into the six-yard box was picked up by the unmarked Deegan who saw his header on goal denied by another good save from Jones. The Dabbers’ keeper was arguably the one who prevented FC from scoring a handful more goals.
With less than 20 minutes of the game remaining and the fog showing no signs of easing off, United’s left back, Quistin, was dismissed following a second yellow card. As the ball was played through the fog, Quistin jumped for a defensive header and the ball was deemed to have touched his arm. As a result Cotterell moved to left back for the remainder of the game.
A minute later, FC showed no signs of being a man down, going forward and firing a fifth past the Dabbers. Wilson latched onto a decent ball from Carden and a clever pass inside to Wright saw the winger run forward one-on-one with Jones and slot the ball past the keeper to top off a well-worked move.
On 79 minutes, Wilson wrapped up an impressive performance, achieving his hat-trick and notching United’s sixth of the afternoon. The ball was well won by Kyle Jacobs who played the ball over the top to Wilson on the edge of the 18 yard box. Wilson hit the ball first time on his left foot and fired it low and hard off the post into the bottom right hand corner.
Having more than sealed his return to FC, Wilson was replaced by Joseph Yoffe. The Reds continued to go forward to the final whistle and the last action of the game came when a speculative effort by Yoffe himself saw the keeper make yet another good stop down to his right.
FC United are home to Worksop Town next Saturday 14th February where the new look team will be looking to build on the weekends resurgence.

What will happen to FC when you all jump ship if MUST gain control of big utd? - I will tell you shall I? - BANKRUPTCY, thats what will happen.
It seems it will be ok for this to happen to FC, but not acceptable for it to happen to "big Utd" - hypocrites, all of you.

After a run of three games away from home, FC United return to Gigg Lane action on Saturday with Worksop Town the visitors. With an unbeaten run that stretches back to the start of the decade, the Reds will be looking for three vital points as well as revenge for a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met at Ilkeston. On that night, Rob Nugent was sent off early in the game and FC never really recovered, conceding a 1st half header as well as two break away goals in the 2nd half. Adam Tong scored a consolation header.
Thanks to draws against Stocksbridge and Frickley as well as a scrappy win at Durham and a superb demolition of The Dabbers in foggy Nantwich, confidence will be sky high in the squad. Kyle Wilson properly announced his arrival back at the club with a superb hat-trick whilst Ben Deegan had probably his best game in a red shirt and both will be looking to continue at Gigg. With the 6-1 win in Cheshire, FC climbed to the heady heights of 12th and with games in hand the play offs are firmly in sight and that push must continue against lowly Worksop Town. Worksop come into the game in 17th position with 25 points from their 22 games played.
Margy was delighted with the performance on Saturday and believes that the bad luck that seemed to be all too regular for the 1st half of the season may well be on the change. He said "I wasnt at all surprised by the fantastic goal haul at Nantwich on Saturday, as Ive been saying for a while that we were close to hitting our best form. Everyone performed at their best and we really clicked. I think we saw signs that the rotten luck we have suffered this season may have changed for the better. Kyle Wilsons first goal came after the ball rebounded straight back to him, when in the early parts of the season it would have spun out of play for a corner. The fact the referee didnt abandon the match due to the thick fog was also proof of our changing fortune." He was also impressed by many of the performances, especially his forward players, "Obviously Kyle will get the plaudits for his hattrick, but it was his all-round game that impressed me the most... Ben Deegan was also non-stop in his effort and he kept it simple, which is what we have been telling him to do.
Phil Marsh was another impressive performer playing on the right hand side." And he is expecting a better performance than that at Ilkeston earlier in the season, "So lets hope we can make it three in a row against Worksop. They may be below us in the league, but they have already given us a good beating this season. We were terrible and it was one of the worst FC United performances so far in our history. We couldn't even pass the ball from A to B and had no pattern to our play. Rob Nugent was sent off, which didn't help, but Worksop played very well and thoroughly deserved to win."
Focus on... Worksop Town: In the 1907-08 season, the club reached the First Round Proper (the equivalent of the modern day competition's Third Round), and were drawn away against Chelsea. Although losing 9-1, the game drew an attendance of 70,184, a club record which still stands today. Another cup run occurred during the 1920-21 season, with Worksop becoming one of the famous FA Cup minnows by holding Tottenham Hotspur to a 0-0 draw at the Division One sides White Hart Lane ground. The replay was controversially held at White Hart Lane for financial reasons, and saw Worksop lose 9-0. Supporters showed their disappointment at playing the game there by staying away from subsequent home matches, an action that for a time saw the clubs debts mount.
The club's home ground from 1992 to 2008 was Sandy Lane. As a result of being locked out in April 2008, the club no longer has use of the ground. In 2008-2009, they shared with Hucknall Town, thirty miles to the south, losing much support in the process. Hucknall terminated the agreement in May 2009mainly due to the two clubs playing in the same league in 2009-10. In June 2009, a new groundsharing arrangement was reached with Ilkeston Town, also over thirty miles south. In early 2009, tentative plans for a new ground were announced in the local paper, the Worksop Guardian. The club boasts former England international Chris Waddle as an ex-player, playing 60 games.

The biggest city fan I know is from Dukinfield. I love watching him cringe when I show him your comments. The blues at work hate United more than anyone but at least they've got the intelligence to understand what FC United are about.
