BURY skipper Paul Scott insists that he will report for the start of pre-season training ‘fully fit’ and ‘refreshed’ having recovered from the knee operation that he underwent towards the end of the 2008/09 campaign.
The 29-year-old says , because he has been fortunate on the injury front in the past, that being sidelined for the end of last season was ‘probably the lowest point of his career’. He is delighted to be back from injury but he warns that Bury may find life tougher in League Two in the forthcoming season as no one will take the Shakers lightly any more following their third-placed finish last term.
However, Scott says that the increased expectation of being one of the favourites for promotion will spur Bury on. And his confidence in the team is aided by him being ‘impressed by the signings that the club have made so far’ in the close season.
Scott is particularly pleased by the arrival of striker Ryan Lowe, stating that he will ‘score goals’ and ‘fit well into the team’.
And, with Lowe competing for a starting shirt with proven goal scorers Andy Bishop, Andy Morrell and Danny Carlton, Scott is more than satisfied with the firepower that Bury have up front.
