BURY manager Alan Knill has made contract offers to two transfer targets and is awaiting their responses.
Both players are believed to play on the flanks.
And, if they both agree to join the Gigg Lane club, Bury’s close season spending could well be over.
Knill said: "I never reveal who I am after until they have been signed.
"But what I will say is that I have made offers to two players and am just waiting to hear if they want to join us or not."
With strikers Ryan Lowe and Danny Carlton having joined the club last week, Knill admits that his goal now is to strengthen the wide areas of the team.
Skipper Paul Scott and David Buchanan have been pencilled in for the full back positions next season while Michael Jones and Danny Racchi are poised to fill the wide midfield roles.
But the Shakers currently have no stand out back up options for those positions.
Knill, who will travel to Dubai for a five-day holiday today, Thursday, June 18, said: "Now that we have brought in two strikers we just need to improve our options in the wide areas and then I will be happy with the squad for next season.
"We only need two, maybe even three, new players now.
"We are strong in central defence with Efe Sodje, Ben Futcher and Ryan Cresswell, have a really good goalkeeper in Wayne Brown, are good in midfield with Stephen Dawson, Brian Barry-Murphy and Richie Baker and we now have four quality strikers on the books in Lowe, Carlton, Andy Bishop and Andy Morrell.
"I am also pleased with the quality of the wide players that we have but we need more competition on both wings.
"We currently have no cover for the full back and wide midfield positions.
"I am looking for a couple of wide players to strengthen the squad and make strong challenges for starting shirts in the wide positions.
"The budget is more or less the same as last season and, fingers crossed, it will all go well again.
"We have trialists coming in for pre-season and, like last year, they have a good chance of getting something.
"All positions will be covered by the trialists and we are hoping to uncover a few hidden gems, like we did with Michael Jones and Danny Racchi last year."
Racchi has vowed to sign his new contract offer when he returns from holiday later this week.
Knill is still mulling over his own new contract offer.
And he is confident that the other man at Gigg Lane to have been offered an extended deal, rookie goalkeeper Cameron Belford, will soon agree terms.
Knill said: "We are still working on a few things in terms of Cameron’s new contract. But I am confident that he will stay and I am hopeful that he will be signed up soon."
