Weththa-singing

STAND Cricket Club got back to winning ways with a 10-wicket win over Woodbank in an amazing contest.

A heroic last-wicket stand of 79 between Andrew Sharp and Jack Bond help Stand posted 154 all out after looking down and out at 75-9.

It was one of the greatest partnerships at the ground and probably the best last wicket stand. The pair made batting look easy on a drying wicket but the fun was not over.

The game then turned into the Amila Weththasinghe show as he took eight wickets for 30 runs.

The pro’s haul included opener Wayne Griffiths, who fell to a stunning one-handed catch off his own bowling. Weththasinghe then finished by blitzing the Woodbank tail with five wickets in 11 balls.

The following day Stand faced Roe Green in a 48-over game and the game was washed out with Stand on 113-3.

Stand Seconds picked up maximum points on the road with a win at Roe  Green.
