Prestwich hairdresser Michael Dobson is preparing to go topless to raise funds for cancer research.

Michael is staging a ladies evening at his salon Complex Hair, in Parrin Lane, Monton in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The 46-year-old stylist, who lives in Simister Lane, Prestwich, said: "Some of my mates are going to be going topless to serve customers with canapes and champagne, and they’ve roped me in to help out.

"It’s all meant to be a bit of a laugh and raise money for a good cause. All of us have lost somebody to cancer - I lost my auntie Audrey Moakes last Christmas from the illness, and this is a good way to remember her."

The men will be dressed only in boxer shorts and bow ties as they serve the customers, who can drop in either for a beauty treatment or simply a drink and a chat.

Raffle prizes for gifts donated by local businesses will be up for grabs. Tickets for the event, on Saturday, February 27, from 5.30pm to 8pm, are £5 with proceeds going to Cancer Research UK. For further details ring: 0161 789 7000.
