A MAN spent four hours on the roof of a house during a stand-off with police.
Police who were investigating a break-in called to interview the occupant of a terraced home on Pollitt Street, Radcliffe, at 9.30am.
But the man clambered on to the roof – despite bitter sub-zero temperatures – and started hurling slates at officers and passers-by.
Officers closed off the street and called in a negotiator. Eventually at 1.30pm, the man came down and was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
No-one has been reported injured.
A GMP spokesman said: “We closed off a couple of streets because the man was throwing slates onto the street. A negotiator was called to talk him down and he was arrested four hours into the incident.”
