BROOKDALE assistant professional Grant Hamerton is looking for some ’major’ successes in the second half of the Manchester Alliance winter season.

In the race for the Alliance’s coveted Order of Merit title, Hamerton, a former player on the European Tour, is handily placed in the top five with plenty of points to play for in the rest of the season.

Merit champion Sean Doherty of Bury is currently in top spot with 217 points and Hamerton has accumulated 178 to date

His club colleague Nick Deme is also in the top 10 with 114 points and a couple of good results could soon see him fly up the leaderboard.

Hamerton showed that his game is in good nick after a recent win in the Fylde Alliance.

Crompton and Royton’s men got back into action with a team of four Stableford and cruising to victory with 74 points were Derek Cannon, Vic Smith, Stuart Thompson and Duggie Kenyon.

The draw has been made for the prestigious Manchester and District Ladies GA’s Bell Cup – the biggest inter-club team KO of its kind in the region with well over 80 clubs entering.
