Oldham dad’s mission to save brother, 8, after family massacred in Pakistan

SAFE HAVEN: Ayesha, with her children Ramiz, Aliza and Haleema, is in constant touch with her husband in Pakistan

A devastated family are battling to bring an eight-year-old boy to safety after a horrific massacre of their relatives in Pakistan.

Naveed Hamid, 24, received the horrific news that his parents, younger brother and sister had been brutally slaughtered in their home in Kakra Town.

His youngest brother, eight-year-old Adeel, escaped after hiding for his life in a clay oven. Now the dad-of-three has flown out on a mission to bring Adeel to Oldham so he can be with his only surviving relatives.

Naveed’s dad Abdul, who was a jeweller, mum Farzana, sister Nabeela, 16, and 15-year-old brother Nabeel were found with fatal knife injuries on October 8.

Fast food worker Naveed, of Clarksfield, flew out to Pakistan immediately and is in the process of applying for a visa for his younger brother. His stunned wife Ayesha said: "I feel like my heart has been ripped out and ripped to pieces. They were such a nice family who would invite anyone to their house. They were very friendly, so loving and caring.

"I don’t see how anyone could hurt my father-in-law or his family. Losing one is bad enough but to lose the whole family – I can’t explain how I feel. I’m going to miss them dearly.

"The police in Pakistan called my husband to tell him what had happened. He was just crying and screaming when he heard.

"It’s not something you expect to happen and nobody is sure who did it or why. All the money and gold is still there and nothing has been taken."

Police in the Punjabi town are probing the targeted attack on the family’s home.

Ayesha, who is five months pregnant, is caring for the couple’s three children, Ramiz, 8, Aliza, three, and two-year-old Haleema, while anxiously waiting for news. The couple, who are being backed by local MP Debbie Abrahams, are putting together the documents necessary to apply for a visa for Adeel.

Ayesha said: "I just want them here. The murderers know that Adeel is still alive. He was hiding and they were shouting his name but they couldn’t find him. He’s ok at the moment and has his friends around him. Applying for a visa is going to take months and is not going to happen overnight. I just want them home.

"I’m in constant contact with my husband. He has to be strong for his brother. The police are there everyday and helping as much as they can."

The Home Office said they could not comment on the case. But officials did not believe there would be barriers to the child being granted a visa, subject to the Pakistani authorities’ approval.

MP Debbie Abrahams said: "I’m in touch with the family and will continue to support them."

I am just waiting for one of the usual suspects to turn this story into the usual pseudo political diatribe against immigration in all its forms. Who will be first to start out pretending sympathy, and then drift into banging on about how the survivor should be cared for in his own country etc etc.

Sorry we're full to bursting...If you really want to care for the lad...Then go and care for him
where he is at home in pakistan, instead of ripping him from his roots and bringing him scared to a place where he is unfamiliar.

I know Naveed quite well, this is a hard working family guy. His little brother only managed to survive this brutal killing by hiding in a tandoor (an Indian clay oven). Oldham has a huge Kashmiri diaspora population (who this country once welcomed into our mill towns). Being cared for here by a brother who has 4 UK citizens as children can only be a welcome end to this bizarre family tragedy.

He would be more welcome if it wasn't for all the others that come over here with the sole intention of bleeding us dry from state benefits, free housing, NHS care and insurance rip-off's.

It's disturbing reading these comments how many left wing comments are allowed to make the boards, and the nature of the right of centre comments allowed. I can only conclude that the moderators have a left wing agenda, that's fine it's their newspaper, but they should at least have the decency to declare their affiliations rather than pretending to have a cloak of respectability & neutrality.

I'm gobsmacked at some of the racist, bigoted posts relating to this story. I'd have a fiver on it that the majority of the buffoons moaning about this child coming over to take advantage of the benefits system are guilty of doing so themselves and if I had the choice of who my taxes go to help, I'd much rather they went to this child whose life is in danger than some of the halfwits that can't be bothered to find work!

Anyone actually going to post to wish the boy well or offer their condolences?

Sadly I saw this article going this way the moment I read it. I stated so in my first comment while also sparing thought for the child. And it appears I was right, plenty of people turning it in to a race and immigration issue and hardly any signs of concern for the child.

Manchester and surrounding areas embarrass me. How does the issue of immigration take over that of this child's immediate welfare when it comes to MEN readers?

Adeel, welcome to Manchester for when you get here. There are plenty of us who welcome you and hope you get help to tackle what you've gone through. Hopefully you'll become a better person than those who discriminate blindly against others, those who appear to post on here in mass.
