Jack’s top sport hack

WRITE stuff: Young sports reporter of the year winner Jack Hoyle

Football-mad Jack Hoyle has been named Oldham Athletic’s young sports reporter of the year.

The 12-year-old North Chadderton pupil’s match report for Latics 1-0 win against Walsall was chosen by the club as the overall winner for the competition, which was run in conjunction with the Advertiser.

Jack, who went to his first match aged seven with his dad Keith, jumped at the chance to win a trip to the press box at Boundary Park – and the possibility of a day out at Wembley.

"I support Oldham and thought I would have a go at the competition if it would give me the chance to go to Wembley – that's what spurred me on," he said. My favourite players are Dean Furman and Pawel Abbott and I think I'll keep going to watch Latics forever. I've got all the kits."

Jack’s report, which is printed below, will be entered into the national Football League competition and the winner will win a VIP media day out at Wembley for four at the Coca-Cola Football League play-off final.

Although he enjoys writing Jack also loves playing football as is a member of Phoenix Athletic. When he leaves school he wants to try to play football professionally.
