On safari: The holiday was wild but luxurious in equal amounts

Kenya

Two lionesses pad silently past our truck, heads hung low, eyes fixed straight ahead as they trudge through the seemingly endless grasslands of the Masai Mara.

At their feet are three cubs, leaping and yelping and pawing at each other in the early evening sun. The family is perhaps 20 metres from our open-sided safari jeep, but ignores us as it makes for a distant hill.

Sierra Leone

Ludlow, Shropshire

Presthaven Sands
