CHEETHAM Hill continued their charge towards the top of the Lancashire County League with what turned out to be a comfortable home victory over Flowery Field.
Batting first Hill reached 210 for eight thanks to a solid contribution from Aziz (43) and some fast late runs from Ali (43) and Mirza (42).
It looked like the match was going to go down to the wire as hard hitting Field batsman Scott (56) smashed three sixes in one Ali over.
But a mixture of high-risk batting and excellent bowling led to Flowery collapsing to 150 all out. Abbas took six for 40.
Hill where supposed to play again on Sunday, but due to the poor weather the match was called off.
Hill’s second team had a disappointing weekend.
Having lost on Saturday they went into Sunday’s game needing a win, but an inexperienced team suffered another defeat.
