2005 - Regeneration change is seen by all

BY 2005 the North East Manchester had really come into its own.

We had succeeded in relating and interacting fully with our readers, providing a combination of important news reports, community news, regeneration news, entertainment and sport.

The 'New Town in the City' - the slogan used to describe the regeneration scheme under way by New East Manchester Ltd - was gradually starting to happen, and with it came both the benefits of a brand new area, and the major news events which always accompany change.

All this and more was dropping on to the doormats of more than 70,000 homes in north and east Manchester - and more than just a friend dropping in, The Advertiser had become an integral part of people's lives. If, for some reason, they didn't receive their weekly copy, there was hell to pay.

Meantime council and regeneration chiefs were bracing themselves for the next big fight - the super casino bid, continuing into 2006.
