Salisbury Athletic 1

Langley Celtic 0

Langley Celtic’s Anfield dream ended in spectacular fashion when man of the the match Chris Tyson produced a knockout blow with a brilliant individual goal with seconds of extra time remaining.

His scorching 30-yarder put paid to the Langley Boys aspirations of a quarter-final national cup tie away in Newcastle and an appearance in the final at Liverpool FC.

It was a tough cup tie with no quarter given. The game only sparked into life in the last 10 miutes of normal time when the home team got on top and Shenton produced two brilliant saves to take the tie into extra time.

Celtic suffered a real blow in the second minute of extra time when the unfortunate Dave Neville was dismissed harshly for a second yellow.

Bancroft looked as though he had won it for the visitors but Willis produced a fantastic save from a rasping drive that was destined for the bottom corner, but one minute later Tyson produced the knockout blow.

Celtic boss Steve Horan said: "I cannot take anything away from Salisbury – they just about edged the game. The biggest dissapontment for me was that some of my big players were not at the races and it probably cost us in the end. We have big games still to come starting in the Manchester Champions Shield this weekend and I will looking for the lads to bounce back immediately."
