CENTRAL Lancashire League Clubs will be asked at tomorrow’s annual meeting to approve beat the weather proposals.
Norden have suggested that a watered down Duckworth/Lewis style scheme would keep rain-affected games alive and avoid the string of draws such as came about last season when many matches were affected by bad weather.
The proposed scheme is similar to that used in the Lancashire League.
It is felt the scheme should be introduced on a trial basis for the 2009 season and for first team matches only.
If it proved successful, second team matches would be covered in the following season.
Simply, what it all boils down to is that teams batting second would still have a chance of taking the points even if their innings was halted by rain at some point.
They would have a revised target to go at instead of batting out the overs before the time deadline with no hope of a positive result.
Heywood propose that any overseas player who has played first-class cricket should not be allowed to register in the league as an overseas amateur.
Oldham propose that league matches should start 15 minutes earlier than last season - at 1.30pm except from the second weekend in August - 1pm, and in September - 12.30pm.
The league will appoint a new chairman on Friday night.
