A woman who may be scarred for life after a man smashed a beer glass into her face has pleaded for someone to identify him.
Hayley Collins, 22, went to the aid of woman who had been violently assaulted by a man in a pub.
But the man returned and smashed a pint-pot in Hayley's face as she was trying to lift the woman off the floor.
Hayley is now afraid of going out in the local pubs in her home town.
She said: “I just want people to come forward and tell the police who he is. I wouldn't like what's happened to me to happen to somebody else.”
Hayley, from Middleton, was at the New Inn pub on Long Street in the town when the attack happened early on Sunday, February 28.
She saw a woman get knocked to the floor and kicked by the man, who she says had also attacked the woman's boyfriend.
The man walked away as Hayley and her friend, who did not know the woman, went to her aid and tried to pick her up from the floor.
But the man then returned and lashed out – before smashing the glass into Hayley's face and punching and kicking her.
She was taken to hospital with a four-inch cut to her face and two broken ribs.
Police are appealing for information to help trace her attacker.
Hayley, who works at an animal sanctuary, said: “I thought I had been punched in the face at first, but then realised there was a lot of blood.
“You don't expect something like that to happen in your local pub. I'm worried about going out now and they say they scar might be permanent.”
The man was about 30, 6ft and muscular. He had dark hair and was wearing a dark jacket and dark jeans.
Det Con Wayne Hagan, from Rochdale CID, said: “This woman was being a Good Samaritan, but got a glass in the face for her pains.
“There were plenty of people in the pub at the time of the incident and I am very confident that someone must know who did this.”
Witnesses should call Rochdale CID on 0161 856 8437 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

I don't mean that of course. It's just tripe that one comes across too often. The beast who did this understands well what he's done, and there are NO EXCUSES. I think Hayley is very brave and is making a stand for victims everywhere. I hope the surgeons can do an excellent job, and that her bravery helps her speed up her recovery from this awful trauma.

A word of advice to Hayley, The UK criminal 'justice' system is a joke, however if he is convicted you should bring a case in the civil courts for compensation which although you might not get it all it will affect his income, be it benefits or work, and any assets he owns such as a car could be seized and sold. Most big stores now take this approach because the civil law is their only recourse now that the criminal law has ceased to work properly

He will prob be the local bully and no doubt the Police will have an idea who he is if not the landlord or bar staff.
In this day and age with so much violence and illegal drugs, it should be part of the pubs licence that cctv is fitted.

If the animal who committed the attack uses the pub regular they will know him a big help would be the skin colour added to the description. If you know him tell the cops and save another young lady ending up being attacked by this woman beating pond life. Good luck Hayley with the skills of surgeons these days you will soon be looking fine.

Hope your scare heals up and your feeling better Hayley, thankfully these incidents are few and far between and the majority of people who go out are just there to have fun with friends/family so don't let this coward put you off going out and enjoying yourself

1. Coward
2. Scum
Actually, to call him 'scum' is offensive to scum. I sincerely hope just desserts are coming his way, and I'm not talking about our pathetic excuse for a justice system. Best wishes Hayley, and get well soon.

This beast needs to be caught soon i.e. tonight, someone must know who he is, surely he had blood on his body/clothing. Did the pub have cctv?
once he is caught he needs a minimum of 10 years in the slammer, thats after 2 years rehabilitation after he has had a taste of his own medicine, I for one would love to kick this waste of life into space! get well Hayley you have a lot of folk thinking of you.
