A MAN was taken to hospital after being shot in the back.

Police were called to an address on Barleyfield Walk, Middleton, at around 4.15pm on Friday, following reports a man had been shot.

Officers attended and discovered an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his back and a head injury. It is thought the man made his way to the address after being shot nearby.

He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Inquiries are continuing.
