The Paper
The Middleton Guardian goes back to Victorian times and has a healthy circulation throughout the Middleton and north Manchester areas, particularly Blackley, which is served by the Blackley Guardian section. The Guardian is also renowned for its successful Life entertainment section.

Increased editorial resources and exceptional growth in advertising has seen the paper almost double in size over the past few years.

The Market
Seven miles from Rochdale, Middleton in the second largest settlement in the borough. Middleton is more than just another 19th Century industrial Lancashire town. Many of the buildings reflect the influence of one of the town's most famous sons, the architect Edgar Wood.

Middleton is one of the oldest towns in Lancashire and retains its independence in spite of its proximity to Manchester. Middleton town centre includes a spacious indoor shopping centre with a wide range of high street names and smaller, independent retailers as well as an outdoor market. Some of the houses in this area date back to the times when Middleton was famous for its silk industry.

Communication Links
Middleton lies only a short drive from the centre of Manchester and is conveniently linked to the M60, M62 and M66 motorways, which bring all parts of Lancashire and West Yorkshire within easy reach. The last section of the M60, Manchester Ring Road has recently opened, improving access and travel times to Stockport, Cheshire, Manchester and the Peak District.
