Corrie star Sean quits the soap

CORONATION Street star Sean Gallagher has sensationally quit the soap - unhappy in his role as Weatherfield factory boss Paul Connor.

His shock decision came after talks with producer Steve Frost.

Sean, 40, pictured, said: "Corrie was everything I hoped. But I like variety and I'm looking forward to taking on new roles."

Mr Frost said: "It has been agreed Sean will be leaving at the end of his contract.

"We are working on a dramatic exit that will propel the Connors into explosive plotlines throughout the year."

Sean joined Street last July on a year's contract.

Corry is now a spent force the writers have seen to that? over the last few years granada writers have slowly killed corrie off this is why they keep comming second to other soaps? Its time to get some new ideas into corrie and a little bit more comedy? its fast becomming a cheaper version of easenders? miserable and depressing. So if any of you writers or bosses at granada want some real stories ask myself or some of the people who write into this newspaper Ect,real people with real views......

I banned my wife and children watching this programme many years ago when I came home unexpectedly one night and there on the television screen in my own sitting room were two men kissing and I believe one of them was a nurse. Totally unsuitable family viewing at 7:30pm and well before the 9:00pm watershed for this kind of thing. Coronation Street used to provide us with an insight into the lives and tribulations of the working class and was a valuable tool to professional young men destined to employ this class of worker in their future business ventures regarding the hopes and aspirations of these people and what their expectations in life were. Now with what I read in the press its more about their sex lives of which there is far to much of on television without including it in what was once a programme suitable for family viewing. My wife's time is now spent more productively at her knitting group evenings instead of watching men kissing each other and hopefully my children have forgotten this act by now. It's no wonder actors do not stay in this programme the years the original cast did if this is the kind of roles they are asked to portray.

Come along, Richard, you'll integrated into this class soon -- Hale Barns is frequented by lower middle-class 'wannabes' and chav-trash. The place to aspire is Alderley Edge, but you don't have the pedigree. I would suggest you watch Benidorm instead.

I find the factory scenes involving "Carly" really boring. Cut her out altogether and give Sean a better role.

My property, breeding and career are eminently superior to yours, Richard, but the golden rule of the elite is 'less is more' when it comes to discussing it. You are clearly a ghastly 'chav' outsider; the tight-knit 'gentry' circuit here in Cheshire prides itself on discretion. You, sir, are a garish pretender. Indeed, I wonder if you weren't the tubby little gentleman my groundsman found trying to remove one of my Scots pines.

Mr. Fotherington, actually that was me after a night with the hounds.

I become a bounder after a few shufters with the stablegirls. I do however, agree with the poster you delight in attacking and quite right, the knitting circle is the best place for the old girl.

Mr. Scruff, the next time you decide to interfere with my 'stablegirls' - these male patients had recently undergone gender reassignment operations at my clinic - you will find yourself on the wrong end of a 12-bore.

i feel really sorry for Richard Everards wife. The poor woman is banned from watching corrie by her husband. dear me, if my husband dictated what i am allowed to watch on tv, id dictate where he can shove it!

would anyone notice ?

Well done Richard Everard, if more husbands took a similar interest in monitoring the viewing habits of their wives and children the country would be a better place. There's far to much aping of these soap characters bad behaviour by the women and youth of today and it needs stamping out for all our benefit.

Yes, Henry, you seem to be talking to yourself as you and Richard are in fact one and the same person. How novel!

Poor Tom is this your favourite programme then or am I writing to myself. Its all so confusing isn't it.

On the contrary, I just have nothing original to say. Bring back Crossroads... anyone?... anyone listening to me? I'll get my coat.
