Cancelled Kylie: Good news for fans

KYLIE fans who are unable to attend a re-scheduled concert in Manchester next Tuesday WILL be able to get their ticket money refunded.

Tour promoters had already announced that fans let down when the Aussie star was forced to abandon her show at the MEN Arena last Saturday due to illness, would get another chance to see the full show.

But the MENés online message boards were inundated with comments from angry fans making the point that many of them who had travelled long distances last weekend, would be unable to do so again for a mid-week concert.

Now promoters say that anyone unable to make the gig, can obtain a refund.

Spokesman Jon Bills said: "They need to go back to the sales point where they bought their tickets, but they must do so by Friday morning.

"People who bought tickets online or by telephone, should contact the agency concerned, and they will be given advice on how to get their money refunded."

The move will come as good news to hundreds of fans who would have found it difficult or even impossible to return to Manchester for the show on January 23.

The Australian singer sang only nine songs during her concert at the Arena last Saturday before she was forced to pull out due to a respiratory tract infection.

She said in a statement afterwards: "Firstly, Iéd like to apologise to those who attended last Saturday nightés show at the MEN Arena.

"I was hoping to feel better as the day progressed, unfortunately the opposite was true. Iém sorry too, for all those inconvenienced by the postponements."

WHAT do you think of this announcement? Have your say.

The reason many people will have booked for a Saturday show is that they lived outside Manchester and had to travel. I will not be able to make the re-scheduled concert as I am unable to take time off work to travel up from London on aTuesday. I'm pleased that the management made the decision to reschedule, however it means that I, along with I'm sure many others, will now not see Kylie this tour.

I'll buy your tickets off you Helen for a fiver.

Thank you Kylie ....

I was SO disappointed on Saturday and was convinced that the money men would find a way out of this ....

I am delighted that the show is to go on!

I'm very sorry for those who won't be able to make it.

Roll on Tuesday! Thank you Kylie!

Hi, I cannot attend the rescheduled concert, yet, the Manchester Evening News arena are telling me that there is no news on refunds for people who are unable to attend. What is going on? I spent enough money travelling to the original gig without forking out even more for next Tuesday.

Here is a response to my question regarding refunds to people who cannot attend the rescheduled date.."We are currently in discussion with the promoters regarding refunds for the 13 January show, as technically the performance did go ahead some way before it was cancelled. The deadline in place is for the 2 dates that were cancelled before the date of the performance."
This is disgusting.

Well Helen, London - if you did choose to travel from such a long distance to a Manchester gig! Perhaps you should stick to Wembley next time!

Mike from Stockport, you can get a cheap day return from Stockport to Manchester for £1.65 and the last train home is about 11.30 - does this help?

No good to me Kylie, where's my refund ?

To be honest, if this was rescheduled for a weekend, we possibly could pay (again) for the flight over (£200) and the hotel (another £150), but since it's a Tuesday, it's a no-go.

Surely a refund must be offered also.

If that's the case on refunds then surely she'll be playing to a half empty arena! Wouldn't they'd rather have the opportunity to resell the tickets.

I to cannot attend the saturday show now to take pleace on 23/01/07 due to working monday to friday, i would like a refund, but ticket venues are not offering this, why? are we not being treated like the rest of kylie fans?.

I thought that it was strange that the Monday & Tuesday concerts were rescheduled for Sunday & Monday (I thought Monday & Tuesday would have made more sense, particularly as she is now doing the gigs on those days).

By rescheduling Saturday's concert, there's a compelling legal argument that they have admitted that fans didn't get what they paid for so they're playing a risky game by not offering refunds for the people who now can't make it (many having already forked out for travel & accommodation which they wouldn't have been able to get refunds for).

Further, Kylie's getting over a serious respiratory tract infection, yet they've now scheduled her to do 5 concerts in a row - time for a relapse, methinks!

Dawn, the reason people from 'down South' travel all the way to Manchester is that the tickets for wembley sold within minutes of going on sale. Kylie is fantastic which is why I was in a porty of 4 that travelled 280 miles each way to see Saturdays show. I also won't be able to make the re-arranged date and so I'm hoping for a refund.

Thank you Kylie - you are a real trooper for doing this for us - as long as you are well. Its well worth any hassle to see you perform live again.

I think its great kylie has decided to re-schedule her Saturday 13th concert. I was so disappointed that she had to abandon the show less than 1/2 way through but she has come through for her fans. At the end of the day those now saying they cannot attend should just try and re-sell their tickets through ebay and the rest etc. She has done her best and i guess there is just no pleasing someone. You could see how upset she was on Saturday when she announced she would not be continuing etc and i feel that even if she'd have put the new date on for a weekend people would have found something else to winge about. Shame on all you. Go Kylie, Manchester loves you.xxx

I'm so pleased. The tickets were for my wife's Christmas present, and she'll be over the moon that we get a chance to see it how it should have been performed. However I think refunds should be offered to those that can't make it as they have already forked out on travel etc for the first concert. But, once again Kylie, thanks for doing the right thing by us.

Why are so many people whinging about not getting refunds. Kylie and her management team have done the right thing by adding an extra gig to replace Saturdays. She could have quite easily not bothered and chilled out for the night. Its tough luck on the people who have to travel from London, Ireland etc. They have the choice to either travel to the new concert or just put the whole incident down to experience. There are bigger problems in the world and as Kylie fans you should all know that.

Thank you Kylie for re-scheduling Saturday night - you're a star! Hope you're feeling better xxx

I am also unable to make Tuesday night, however I rang the people who I booked the tickets with www.seetickets.com. I have now booked tickets for Monday night instead - even better seats, and they are giving me a refund on my Saturday/Tuesday night tickets - so I think people who can't attend Tuesday will be able to get their money back, but unfortunately you can't exchange for an alternative date - but if your quick you could try to book tickets for another night.

Good on you Kylie. It's a pity that Barry Manilow didn't do the same a few years ago when he appeared at the MEN Area and was on stage for a hour or so before ending his show.

Firstly i would like to say it's good news kylie is fit enough to continue with the tour.
I happened to be there on Saturday and as like everyone else wondering what was going to happen to the tickets.
In true Kylie style these have also been rescheduled. Secondly ..............
I know it may not be convienient for alot of people who travelled from far and wide to see her but if you see refunds are avalible and everyone has to let the box office know by Friday if they are able to go or not.. I even managed to buy a really good ticket for thursdays preformance out of it all worried that i may not be able to see the show.
True fans will be understanding of the situation. Im not hiding the fact that i was angry and dissapointed by it all and can understand someone forking out a nights stay in Manchester plus travel expenses being angry and dissapointed more than anyone. But the reality of it is not everyone is going to be happy of the decision and it is impossible to check 45000 peoples diary to see when is the best time to fit the show in.
I personally didn't think she would even make it to manchester with the likely hood of her catching a bug being extreamly high. But in true Kylie style she's battled through a bug and reschedualed.
She didn't even have to come to England and do the tour, she had no reason to but she did to say thanks for the support. Give her a break !!!!

To all the people moaning about refunds and what not, remember that Kylie is not legally obliged to reschedule the Saturday gig or give refunds as it was well underway. She is actually doing us a favour, i bet a lot of artists wouldn't do the same. I realise it must be frustrating for people who can't make it but thats the risk you take with concerts - read the small print! I for one will be cheering for Kylie on Tuesday and thanking her for appreciating her fans once again.

however i am going into hospital for an operation that day and cant attend.
