CONTROVERSIAL disc-jockey James H Reeve is leaving Key 103. The 55-year-old's contract to present the radio station's late-night phone-in show finishes at the end of the month and is not being renewed.
In a turbulent career, Man City fan Reeve has had stints with the former BBC GMR, Piccadilly, Century and Talk Radio. A spokesman for Key 103 said Reeve's departure was amicable and had been a mutual decision.
Simon "Nicksy" Nicks will be the new presenter of the Key 103 talk show from July 30. Anthony Gay, programmes director at Key 103, said: "Nicksy has a wealth of talent in radio broadcasting and a strong affiliation with Manchester."
WILL you miss Reeve from the Key 103 airwaves? Have your say.

These 'newbies' are diabolical. Get rid of them and get proper presenters in instead!

What was a presenter like James H Reeve doing on Key 103 in the first place?

No local station dares to take risks anymore and hence Manchester just does not produce any fresh talented broadcasters anymore.
They poach it from smaller regions - that's all.
It's about time OFCOM was regionalised and Mancunians choose what Mancunians can listen to!

Stannage, Reeve, Mark Ratcliffe, even "Woo Gary Davies" all had personality albeit Gary's was pure cheese.
Also Stu Allen was another great Piccadilly d.j.
Hmm just remembered didnt Timmy Mallett start on Piccadilly?

Everyone I have spoken to today has met this news with dismay.
Anthony Gay (aka Williams when in Sheffield) is bent on making 103 an adolescent music station.
As if we do not have enough.
Manchester needs an open forum talk station.
An evening listening to JHR is both entertaining and an education.
The man is a giant and the airwaves will be thin until he returns.

now?I will loose a fortune.
James is to radio what Cyril Smith was to hang-gliding.
Nontheless,it has to be said [albeit through gritted teeth]
that he will be sadly missed.
So long old pal.
Rest in peace.

I may be in London, and even work on a different radio station, but he has been a great influence in what I do, and his show will be missed.
The business being what it is, I'm sure it wont be long before he pops up again elsewhere, but a great loss to Key 103.
