ITV show Celebrity Love Island lost more viewers last night - as the possibility of a celebrity romance also appeared to dwindle.

The much-hyped show shed 1.3 million viewers on Tuesday, when it was watched by an average of 4 million, following Monday night's launch, when 5.3 million tuned in.

The first of the couples to spend time together in the celebrity "love shack", on a Fijian island, have also failed to hit it off.

Ex-Hollyoaks actor Paul Danan's passion for Lady Isabella Hervey has not been reciprocated.

A frustrated Paul confessed in the beach hut: "If she likes me then why be such a frigid bird? Why be that uptight?"

Lady Isabella later said: "I never did anything to lead him on. I thought he would know by the way I was acting that all I wanted was friendship.

"He said `Why are you even here then, it's not as if I want to f*** you'.

"I felt a bit sick. Now I feel like he doesn't even value me as a person.

"I feel like he really laid into me. He expected to get it on with someone but if I don't feel the same then what am I supposed to do about it."

Abi Titmuss and Rebecca Loos have been discussing their past relationships.

Rebecca says of her alleged affair with David Beckham: "I look upon last year as a massive learning curve. I made a lot of mistakes."

Abi, who dated former TV host John Leslie, said: "I feel exactly the same. It was sink or swim for me.

"I wish him all the best and he does me. He really does. He's not the best boyfriend in the world.

"I think he'd probably admit to that. But yes, he's a great guy."

Abi has been massaging model Calum Best, nightclub owner Fran Cosgrove and ex-EastEnders actor Michael Greco, who confessed he fancies the former nurse.

He told Calum: "She is funny, I love that quality in a woman, one that can make me laugh, a bit quirky, bit off the wall."

Former soccer star Lee Sharpe and TV presenter Jayne Middlemiss have also been flirting.

The series arrived on screens a week after ITV axed its previous celebrity show Celebrity Wrestling from its evening slot following low ratings.

ITV said it was pleased with the figures for Celebrity Island, and that they reflected a later broadcast time of 10pm.

An ITV spokeswoman said: "We wanted it to raise our profile with the younger group, and we achieved a 28% share with 16 to 34-year-olds, up by 12% on our normal year-to-date figures for that slot."
