BAFTA-WINNING film-maker Max Carlish's documentary following the former Libertines frontman is a project that ended up with Pete in Pentonville for a long weekend.
Max Carlish recorded the singer's day-to-day life, including footage of his heroin use.
But when Doherty's representatives denied the director further access to his subject, he responded by selling the material he'd shot to the tabloids.
Pete's reaction ended up with police involvement. Happily, all charges relating to the incident in a North London hotel have been dropped, and Pete's band Babyshambles are planning an album release in the coming months.
The documentary features contributions from friends and former band members. (Channel 4, 10pm)

I didnt really know much about Pete Doherty before i watched this documentry, however i decided to watch it because the adverts leading up to it looked interesting.
I could see why Max took an interest in Pete because he is quite an intreguing character, however i personally think Max took it too far and Pete had every right to retaliate the way he did, fair enough he shouldn't of been so blatent with his drug use, but there was no reason why Max should of sold this info to the press just because he wasnt getting what he wanted.
I think the comments he made about Pete and Kate and sexual involvement was disturbing.
He needs help.
This documentry was an eye opener, it makes you realise just how far people will go to get satisfaction, it also shows you what goes through the mind of a stalker.
10/10
A brilliant insight into what happened between Max and Pete, I also believed that there was more to this feud than what was publicised. Max over stepped the Mark, and he was luckly he only got a bunch in face. Pete is a hughly talented musician, who has a drug habit, thousand of kids today are addicted to heroin and crack, and I think he should be more discreet with regards to heroin and crack. The suffering in the country today from heroin and crack addiction words cannot describe. Yet here is a very young, talented guy, and words like Sid Vicious, Janis Joplin, and many other great Rock Stars spring to mind. I think Pete is an amazing artist, I love his music, and realy wish that he could kick the heroin and crack addition.
Max Carlish is clearly not a film maker. He is however, clearly a manic depressive. The public and any celebrity he decides to focus on need to be protected. Im shocked that his mother, in her professional role, did nothing to stop him before he made a public fool of himself and openely showed the viewing public the true meaning of madness. He may have been clever at one point in his career, but his latest pathetic attempt to gain acceptence into the world of great film makers has succeeded only in displaying his clear lack of human dignity. Im shocked that he was allowed to even show this film let alone brag about it in such a condescending manner in his idiotic commentary. As for the Liberteens, Id never heard of them before this and Pete Docherty, ok, he's not a good role model for people in general but he as a human being did not deserve the treatment this fan levied upon him. Infact, he's not a fan at all, he wants to be Pete Docherty. Fool. Lock him up and make sure he takes his medication. He needs it.
pete rocks our socks.
max carlish is a wee bit disturbed.
Chloe on Pete in Kerry
Kerry in Pete up Chloe
Pete on Chloe with Kerry on top.
ETC.........
i thought that when i watched that documentary it saddened me the way that carlish humiliated himself to make pete laugh. the degradation meant carlish became convinced that he should be getting some thing out of it. he was sorely disappointed. doherty seems nice and talented and i liked him way before he was ''famous'' but really did he have a clue what carlish was talking about ''o pete you have the brains of marilyn monroe'' in a word what the hell was carlish talking about?????
Max is the most dislikable person I have seen in a very long time. If he wasn't so bothered to film himself then maybe he would have got the elusive interview. It was painful watching him.
I think Max hasn't come to terms with his sexuality. He seemed obsessed by sexual references with Pete, about how they were having a sexual relationship and it wasn't rape. Also reference to Kate and Pete's private sexual relations.
i know max from around the area and have been out on the sesh a few times and i watched the documentary the other day and think what he did was out of order but i know how much money he made and i know i woudnt do it but a lot of people would
Pete Doherty is recognised has a major British talent and it is unfair that an artist who??TMs excesses fall far short of those of the Rolling Stones and the Beatles at the high of they popularity, yet the British media fetid and idolised them. Why does this generation idols come under this depressing targeting.
A channel of your size and influence missed the opportunity to make a documentary, which would give an insight into how a individual can be demonised by manipulative media. The cheapness of this all reportage demonstrated your channel continuous duming down and pandering to Essex white van man viewers. You Must Be Proud???
I found this documentary very interesting viewing also. Max needs to find his own self worth and get help rather than trying to get it through being accepted by a rock star. I think that selling the pictures was a desperate attempt to regain Pete's attention in any way he possibly could. I have to say that although I thought the way Max behaved was stupid, I also felt sorry for him and admired his honesty about the whole thing.
Panzer for men
Max is dead sexy
