IT was a night of special K's as The Games' contestants hit the gymnasium last night.

TV presenter Kirsty Gallacher extended her overall lead by taking six points with a dynamic floor routine, while Liberty X's Kevin Simm stole the show on the vault to move into second place.

Kirsty's winning score of 9.0 awarded by the judges took her overall total to 21, giving her a commanding lead of six over nearest rivals Anna Walker and HRH Princess Tamara Czartoryski-Borbon.

While Kevin, with a score of 9.35, took his grand total to 15, six behind ex-Brookside actor Philip Olivier.

Unfortunately, comedian Craig Charles was deemed too injured to take part following a wounded shoulder picked up in the sumo wrestling but the good news after an x-ray was that nothing was broken.

The men went first with all four gaining personal best scores to pick up a bonus point each.

Singer Chesney Hawkes finished second while Philip Olivier, despite not appearing happy with his vault, edged actor Jonathon Morris into fourth place.

Appreciative crowd

In the women's floor routines, a great array of interpretations were on display for the appreciative crowd and judges and, once again, all five smashed their personal best scores to gain an extra point.

Despite speaking of her dancing fears earlier in the day, overall Games leader Kirsty stole the show and beat the all-time record into the bargain.

Moving to Hot Stuff by Donna Summer clearly impressed those watching as Anna moved in to second place, while singer Lisa Maffia came in third.

Tamara - who had the difficult proposition of going first in the event - scored a creditable 8.25 for fourth, and Mel gained her second point of The Games after performing to Final Countdown by Europe.

Tonight the celebrities hit the ice in the curling for women and speed skating for men.
