TV weatherman Fred Talbot says floating map could make a return – in Salford Quays

Weatherman Fred Talbot has said his famous floating weather map could be brought back - at MediaCity in Salford Quays.

The TV celebrity, 61, found fame on ITV's This Morning as he leapt from Britain to Ireland during weather reports for the show when it was made at Liverpool's Albert Dock.

Crowds would often gather to watch him and, during one show in 1995, a streaker swam naked up to the map and climbed on - to the delight of presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.

Footage of the naked intruder joining Fred on the map has been posted on YouTube.

Altrincham-born Fred told fans on the Twitter social-networking site the map might be reintroduced when Granada move to MediaCity.

Fred said: “It might just happen when we move to MediaCity in Salford next year. It would be fun to have the map back.”

The floating weather map was a big hit with viewers and there is a Facebook group urging TV producers to give Fred his map back to 'make the weather fun again'.

As you can see from the pictures above, the map used to have monuments to represent a city e.g Tower Bridge for London.

For Manchester it should be O.T's ground (seeing as we're gonna do the the treble again {:0) and for Liverpool it should be a big arrow pointing our way with the words 'MANCHESTER 40 MILES'.

See you tomorrow.

C'MON UNITED!!

Yes, it would. Especially if he did himself some damage. He's probably got a family and close friends that would be very upset.

More negativity from MEN readers - get a grip!
