Shameless layabout Frank Gallagher is set to stir-up more controversy after dressing up as Jesus Christ for the second time.
Drunken Frank, played by David Threlfall, poses as the son of God on the show at a vicars and tarts party at local pub The Jockey.
Viewers will see the scenes on E4 at 11pm tonight ahead of its Channel 4 broadcast next week.
It’s the second time Frank has posed as Jesus for the award-winning Wythenshawe-filmed and Manchester-set series.
A poster in 2004 featured 12 members of the Gallagher family having a drunken Christmas dinner dressed as Jesus and his disciples at the Last Supper. The nationwide advertising campaign caused controversy for its deliberate resemblance to Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting.
Frank was seen slumped over the table holding a beer can and cigarette in the centre of the image, where Jesus appears in the original painting.
Church leaders in Manchester branded the poster offensive while the Advertising Standards Authority received 264 complaints from people who claimed it mocked Christianity.
But the watchdog later rejected the claims, ruling that the poster poked fun at the painting rather than religion.
This time Frank loses his temper and head-butts his 11-year-old son, Liam, (Johnny Bennett), who is dressed as an angel, leading to near tragedy.
Other sons Carl (Elliott Tittensor) and Ian (Gerard Kearns) go dressed as a priest and a monk, with Mimi Maguire (Tina Malone) and Kelly Ball (Sally Carman) working behind the bar as nuns.
A Shameless spokeswoman told the M.E.N: “It’s another classic Shameless moment in The Jockey when Frank gets carried away, resulting in a shocking clash with his young son.”

I had a little playful humour with frank and Carlito but I am of the view that God wouldn't mind a bit of light humour, but wouldn't be happy with blaspheming. If it is God that gave us humour then he gave us humour for a reason.

Take the Danish cartoonist as just one example. I don't hear anyone threatening David Threlfall with death.

However, Christian faiths do display Jesus Christ on jewelry, painting, drawings etc, etc, etc.
Therefore the portrayal of Jesus Christ is acceptable.
Also lets not forget what Kevin Smith said when he directed and written Dogma "Even God has a sense of humour, look at the platypus"!

"So two wrongs make a right - some religious nutters of one creed are a bunch of bullies so we have to bully and insult all the religion's adherents, great!"
But you seem to be suggesting that one wrong makes a right - even more counter intuitive.
