Liam Gallagher slams Peter Kay over TV insult

Liam Gallagher has hit back at Peter Kay over the Bolton funnyman's insult on live TV coverage of the Brit Awards.

Kay was seen by millions of viewers calling Gallagher a 'k***head' after the Oasis frontman threw his microphone into the crowd during a foul-mouthed award acceptance speech.

Gallagher, 37, today used his Twitter account to reply to the insult.

In two messages on his official account, he wrote: "Regarding Peter Kay's comment..." and then added: "Listen up fat f*** as a real northerner I was brought up 2 say s*** 2 people's faces not behind their back. Live forever LG"

ITV censored Gallagher's acceptance speech during live coverage of the awards, in which he picked up the award for best British album of the last 30 years for 1995's What's The Story (Morning Glory).

He went on stage without brother Noel and said 'Best band in the ****ing world... live forever' before tossing his microphone into the crowd.

After he left stage, Kay, who was hosting the awards for the first time, said: "What a k***head", to general approval from the crowd. His insult was not censored by ITV.

The broadcaster said it had received two complaints about the coverage on Tuesday night, one complaining about Liam Gallagher and the other complaining about Peter Kay.

Meanwhile, a Facebook group set up to back Peter Kay's TV putdown to Gallagher has now attracted over 91,000 members.

Yes a proper Northerner living in leafy Hampstead.

It's like Cilla Black, the Beatles, Tarbuck and the rest who harp on about Liverpool, paly up to the cheeky scouser bit but moved down south as soon as they had some dosh.

As for Gallagher Peter Kay's comment summed up what 99.9% of the people thought.

How about the good old days of rockers driving cars into swimming pools, riding motorbikes into hotel lobbies, being up on traffiking charges etc. Not Mr Rockstar-lite Gallagher.

I remember he showed us how hard he was when he gave some lip to some Italians in a hotel and they put his teeth down his throat.

As most people know this pillock mouths it off about running with Citys lads in there day but three parts of them have no recollection of it, a mummys boy who hates everything/anyone who doesnt fall for the Oasis bilge. Best band in the world? My a++e, there not even the best band in Manchester, The Smiths, Roses and Joy Division are ten times better than these 'indie pop' tossers.
