SMITHS legend
Johnny Marr
is planning a local album just for local people...
Johnny and the band he has now joined full-time, The Cribs, are to create special editions of their upcoming new album available in regional-only formats, including one version which will only be available in Johnny's native Lancashire.
The band came up with the idea, which is believed to be a first, when they realised each member's home county had a rose as its emblem. So there will be a Lancashire version in honour of Johnny, and a Yorkshire version inspired by band members
Ryan,
Ross and
Gary Jarman.
I'm told the regional exclusive of Ignore The Ignorant, to be called "The Roses Edition" will only be available to buy at music shops in Lancashire.
It will come in a black box and include an exclusive live CD of the band's show at Manchester Ritz earlier this year.
But fans outside the county boundaries will be pleased to hear a standard version will also be available from September 7.
