POLITICALLY-CORRECT comedy is dead, to judge by this year’s winner of the City Life Comedian Of The Year competition.
Eddie Hoo's fearless and foul-mouthed act, which includes bad taste gags about sex, disability and being a drunken, girlfriend-less Chinese man, picked up the £1,000 first prize from compere John Thomson at the Comedy Store, beating eight other finalists. Ben Davis was second and Mick Sargeant third.
Ironically, Thomson performed part of his compering duties as his character Bernard Right-On, a hilarious parody of politically-correct comedians and mirror-image of the likes of the late Bernard Manning.
