Tricia gave birth to Freddy Jay Simpkin on the date considered mystically significant Chinese numerology - 08/08/08.
Freddy did his own bit to add to the lucky theme - weighing in at exactly 8lb.
According to Chinese numerology belief, 8 is considered the number of material success, and so the date 08/08/08 has been deemed particularly auspicious.
So much so that the Beijing Olympics were launched last night at exactly eight minutes past eight.
Freddie is the second son for Macclesfield-based Tricia, who plays lovable barmaid Gina Ward in Heartbeat, and her TV presenter husband Mark Simpkin.
A spokeswoman for the couple said both mum and baby are doing well.
She said: "Little Freddy Jay Simpkin arrived on 08/08/08 weighing in at eight pounds which was quite a coincidence. Mark and Tricia couldn't be more thrilled."
Life has been imitating art for Tricia - as she discovered she was pregnant in real-life while recording scenes of her character's on-screen pregnancy in long-running ITV soap.
The first time she was pregnant - with son Jake, now four - producers also wrote into the storyline that Gina was expecting a baby.
